Job Position: Caddo Kiowa Technology Center is accepting applications for Culinary Arts Kitchen
Assistant.

Qualifications: 18 years of age; high school diploma or its equivalent; two years of food service job
experience preferred. Prefer individual with Pro-Start Serve Safe Certifications or a willingness to
become certified. Ability to follow instructions, think logically, handle responsibilities, and demonstrate
emotional maturity and stability.

Additional Qualifications: Ability to walk/stand for extended periods of time; ability to lift 50 pounds;
ability to use various equipment regularly used in food production; ability to communicate in a
professional manner with students and staff and exercise tact, discretion, and good judgement.

JOB DESCRIPTION
   
Position: Culinary Arts Kitchen Assistant

 

Primary Function: In an educational setting prepare & distribute meals in a safe, nutritional and attractive manner. Operate and service equipment used in culinary arts and food production and ensure kitchen is in compliance with various health department, OSHA and MSDS Standards. Assist students with instructional activities.

 

Responsible to: Culinary Arts Teacher / Instructional Leader
Minimum Qualifications:  

18 years of age; high school diploma or its equivalent; two years of food service job experience preferred. Skillset: Ability to walk/stand for extended periods of time; ability to lift 50 pounds; ability to use various equipment regularly used in food production; ability to communicate in a professional manner with students and staff and exercise tact, discretion, and good judgement.

 

Responsibilities:  
General:  

Continue professional development education in areas pertinent to the position.

  Attend all local staff meetings, conferences, and approved professional development training at the local, district, and state levels.
  Maintain good communications and work cooperatively with all co-workers and administrative staff.
  Perform various other duties assigned by the supervisor within the physical constraints of the position.

1.      Prepare and serve lunch and special event meals in a timely fashion.

2.      Ensure that daily operations are complete under the supervision of the teacher to include but not limited to washing dishes, cleaning work surfaces and equipment and ensure the dining area is set up and ready to receive our guest.

3.      Routinely apply safety and sanitation rules, practices and safeguards applicable to food handling, presentation, production and storage.

4.      Assist teacher with culinary skills development with students.

5.      Effectively and safely operate food production equipment.

6.      Report any equipment service, damage, or repair to the teacher and assist with basic repairs as needed.

7.      Assist teacher with the ordering of food and supplies in a complete and timely manner.

8.      Effectively utilize computer hardware and software common to instructional laboratories.

9.      Keep detailed records.

10.  Keep unauthorized person(s) out of the kitchen.

11.  Maintain good communications and work cooperatively with all co-workers, administrative staff, and classified personnel.

12. Perform various other duties assigned by the supervisor within the physical constraints of the job.

Evaluation: Performance appraisal conducted annually.
