CKTC accepting applications for Criminal Justice program

Caddo Kiowa Technology Center recently announced that it will reopen its Criminal Justice program. Officially launching in fall 2020, the program will focus primarily on high school juniors and seniors.

“CKTC has a strong history of helping its students to leverage their career goals to impact the economy positively,” said Superintendent Tony Hancock. “The new Criminal Justice program is another excellent way for our students to meet their goals and serve the public good.”

Students in the Criminal Justice program will receive hands-on training through a variety of mock simulations in interviewing techniques, security assessments and investigations. These simulations will give students applicable experience that will assist them in excelling in graduate school and future jobs.

Hancock says that the decision to reopen the program came from extensive surveys of partner school students and numerous discussions with law enforcement agencies, corrections facilities and our tribal partners.  “Without question, there is a workforce need in our district.  Students between 18 and 21 years of age cannot carry a gun, but there are several workforce opportunities with our industry partners.  Unarmed security, corrections officers, jailers, and dispatch are needs within our district.  Students also have the opportunity to continue their education at regional colleges and universities.  The goal of the Criminal Justice program is to focus on developing future leaders, and to provide our students with opportunities to enter the workforce in both the private and public sector and to prepare them to continue their education.”

While arrangements are being made for the new classroom and lab, administrators at CKTC are currently seeking the right applicant to join the CKTC team and head up the program.
