CKTC Adds School Resource Deputy

The CKTC Board of Education approved a new assigned duty of being the School Resource Deputy for the campus commissioned by Sheriff Davis with the Caddo County Sheriff’s Department.

“I have been in Law Enforcement for 27 years. I started my law enforcement career in January of 1996 by attending the Reserve Police Academy at Caddo Kiowa Technology Center. I graduated the Full Time Police Academy in 1998 and completed my Associates Degree in Police Science from OSU in 2008. In 2011 I earned my advanced law enforcement officer certification from the State of Oklahoma.”

“In my 27 years of law enforcement my duty assignments have been patrol deputy, school resource officer, tactical officer, investigator, instructor, and Lieutenant Deputy. In 2020 I became employed with Caddo Kiowa Technology Center as the Criminal Justice Instructor. In the Criminal Justice Program, I instruct students in all aspects of law enforcement from patrol to crime scene investigation.”

“In this program students receive the most current training and techniques used by law enforcement. The tech center offers some of the most advanced simulated training available in the State of Oklahoma.”

CKTC’s John Noel wins National ACTE/PACE Ambassador of the Year Award

Caddo Kiowa Technology Center’s Business and Industry Services Director John Noel was recently awarded the National ACTE/PACE Ambassador of the Year Award.

This is an award given to one individual nationally, that goes above and beyond to promote the PACE division on a Local State and National level. John has served as ACTE/PACE Vice President and has been a huge asset to the division.

CKTC’s Crystal Nation attends Oklahoma Energy Resources Board (OERB) Educators’ Retreat

From July 6-8, seventy-nine teachers from across the state of Oklahoma (including CKTC’s Crystal Nation) attended an immersive three-day summer retreat sponsored by the people of Oklahoma Oil and Natural Gas.

The goal of the Oklahoma Energy Resources Board (OERB) Educators’ Retreat is to provide teachers the opportunity to expand their knowledge about the state’s largest industry so they can provide context and Oklahoma-applications for lessons they already teach in their classroomThe all-expenses paid event offered hands-on industry experience and exclusive tours, including Schlumberger’s Oklahoma City facility, Enbridge’s facilities in Cushing, and a drilling rig tour hosted by Unit Drilling Company and Coterra Energy. The retreat also included a safety briefing before each tour, a presentation from Engaged Learning and a Women in STEM panel discussion.

CKTC TDT Program provides trailer for clothing donation transportation

The Caddo Kiowa Technology Center’s Truck Driver Training Program recently partnered with the Cordell Masonic Lodge in order to facilitate the donation of approximately 12,000 pairs of sweatpants and sweatshirts (roughly $66,000 in value) to the Oklahoma City Department of Veterans Affairs. They were delivered on Tuesday January 18, 2022. CKTC’s Truck Driver Training Program offered the use of their 53’ van trailer, which was filled completely with the sweats. This donation will provide clothing for many heroes who reside in Oklahoma Veterans hospital across the state.

CKTC PLTW Program Recognized

Caddo Kiowa Technology Center’s Project Lead the Way (PLTW) program was recently recognized for their hard work and dedication in the classroom.

To be eligible for the award, the school had to have offered, and had students enrolled, in at least three PLTW High School courses from any pathway during the 2020-21 school year. Also, at least 25% of students had to participate in PLTW High School courses from any pathway during the 2020-21 school year OR at least 33% of those students who participated during the 2020-21 school year had to take at least two PLTW courses. Lastly, the school had to have strategies and/or procedures in place to support reasonably proportional representation with regard to race, ethnicity, poverty, gender, etc.

CKTC board member John Clay, resigns

Caddo Kiowa Technology Center board member, John Clay, a long time farmer in the Carnegie area, announced his resignation from the board at the August 9, 2021 board meeting. Mr. Clay has been one of the longest tenured school board members in the state. He started in July of 1992 and ended 29 years of service in August of 2021 as representative of seat/zone 4.

Mr. Clay served on the Caddo Kiowa Technology Center board through four superintendents, eleven board members and numerous staff. His influence at CKTC has been instrumental in helping the technology center meet the needs of students and patrons in the district. Mr. Clay’s contribution to building projects, campus updates and program changes have all been a foundation in the growth of the school over the years.

Current superintendent Tony Hancock stated “Mr. Clay has been an exceptional board member. He understands the challenges technology centers face in education and the need to provide a growing workforce as we seek to impact economic development in our district. His knowledge, character and overall commitment to excellence will be difficult to replace. He will be missed.”

Board President Dustin Tackett added “It has been a pleasure to serve with John for nearly 17 years. We have experienced a great deal during our time together on the board. His desire to provide a quality learning environment for our district has never wavered.”

Caddo Kiowa Technology Center serves 14 school districts and all or part of eight counties. Along with full-time programs of training for high school and adult students, the technology center provides customized training for business and industry partners and open enrollment classes to meet the needs of patrons all across the district.
