CKTC’s robotics team – The Crickets –  were very honored and pleased to be awarded a grant in the amount of $3,200 by the Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO). These funds will go directly toward the design and development of next year’s robot, and other expenses related to the continued success of the program.

Tether Tech Safety, USA received the Incubator Tenant of the Year at the annual Oklahoma Venture Forum awards luncheon held at the Oklahoma History Center.

This award, presented by the Oklahoma Business Incubator Association, recognizes outstanding startup companies currently housed in one of the 31 Oklahoma business incubators. Caddo Kiowa Business Development Center Incubator manager Shawn Freie, nominated Tether Tech Safety, USA for the prestigious award.

Located in Caddo Kiowa Technology Center’s Business Incubator, TTS manufactures a product designed to protect against tractor trailer wheel-off incidents, using a thick steel cable running through the axle tube and tethered to a pair of wheel-end caps. This design prevents the wheel assembly from separating in the event of a bearing failure. Developers Billy Turner and Troy Miller.

The event included recognition for economic impact, venture of the year, new venture, entrepreneurial champion and incubator tenant, recognizing all aspects related to the entrepreneurial community. All nominated companies are independently owned and operated, and headquartered inside Oklahoma.

On February 8, 2022 residents in the Caddo Kiowa Technology Center service area will have the opportunity to cast their vote to change the millage rate from the current 1 mil to 5 mills. The passage of this millage would provide stable and predictable funding to ensure the needs of students, teachers and communities are served for many years to come. Funds from this measure will be used to improve current buildings (some more than 50 years old), needing significant investment to remain viable training facilities, improve and/or address issues including safety (improved public safety including installing fire always and sprinkler systems in buildings), childcare center (redesign and modernize of the childcare center to meet community demand and to provide a better, safer and brighter learning environment), fire department support (support the 28 volunteer fire departments in the CKTC district by providing a portable burn trailer that will allow those departments to train locally for structure fees), and both current and future infrastructure/building needs (improved existing infrastructure for the campus including roads, plumbing, electrical, sidewalks, roofs, air conditioners, etc.)

The second question on the ballot would keep the vote in effect unless another election was called to change it. This would eliminate the need to vote on the millage annually.

Caddo Kiowa Technology Center recently gained a new member to serve on the Board of Education. Chaz Hurt was raised in Carnegie and graduated from Carnegie High School in 2012. After high school, Hurt attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University where he obtained his Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Hurt’s wife, Kalley is originally from Enid, Oklahoma and also graduated from SWOSU with a Bachelors of Science in Education. Mrs. Hurt currently teaches Chemistry and Biology at Carnegie High School. Chaz and Kalley are constantly seeking more opportunities to be able to give back to the community that they say has poured so much into them. Hurt stated that he is excited for the opportunity to serve on the Board of Education for Caddo Kiowa Technology Center.
